Regarding Okinawa Karate Kaikan Special Exhibition “Okinawan Karate, The University Ripple Effect. A New Martial Art that Grabbed the Hearts of Young People”

The Okinawa Karate Kaikan is holding the "Okinawan Karate, The University Ripple Effect. A New Martial Art that Grabbed the Hearts of Young People" special exhibition from 12/17 to 3/23.
One of the triggers for the spread of Okinawan karate throughout Japan and the world was due to the establishment of karate clubs at universities in the Kanto and Kansai regions starting from the Taisho period to the early Showa period.
In this exhibition, materials and photographs showing how college students started to get interested in karate, how they established karate clubs, and the situation surrounding karate before World War Two are on exhibit. All the exhibit display panels include English translations.
