Established 2000 Organization Overview ・It was established in 2000. With the opportunity of participating in the 3rd WUF in 2001, it changed its name to Florida Okinawa Kenjin Kai.
・Its objective is to promote mutual cooperation and friendship among tis members and contribute to the welfare and good bilateral relationship between Okinawan and American communities.
As its main activities, they have been participating in many events and made presentations at many schools and colleges in the community and promoting Okinawa culture through dance and music performances as well as workshops on origami, food and language.
・In the past, they have been awarded with certificate of appreciation from the governor of Okinawa, governor of Florida and many other important authorities in Florida.
・In 1995, a group of women married to Americans living in US formed the Ryukyu Dance club, Gajumarukai. At the time this group changed its status to Kenjinkai, it was a women only group.
