Organization Overview・It was established in 1990. At the time of establishment, its objectives were to promote friendship among its members, contribute to the development of the Okinawan culture, and promote good relations between the Okinawan and the local communities. In recent years, many people join the association to learn classical Ryukyu dances and to speak in Japanese and Okinawan dialect.
There are members in 10 states: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Minnesota, Nebraska and California.
Due to the presence of military bases in the vicinity of Panhandle, Florida (2 air force and 1 army), most of the members are spouses of US military servicemen stationed in those bases.

Purpose of establishment
On October 27, 1990, Okinawa Kenjin-Kai (Fellowship Club) Pensacola, FL. was organized. Our organization has members from 10 states: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Minnesota, Nebraska, & California.
The purpose of the club is for fellowship, learning the classic Ryukyuan dance (folk dance), and being able to speak Japanese or Okinawan language. Club activities include celebrating the Okinawan New Year (Chinese New Year), yard sales, annual picnic, and performing the Ryukyuan dances.
We have been invited to perform Okinawan classic dances at local schools, colleges, military installations, International Festivals, and private parties.

Description・Performed Eisa and classical Okinawan dance at local schools, colleges, military facilities, international events, various local groups, private events, Nikkei communities and many other events in the community.
【Kariyushi Picnic 2017】
・On November 4, members with their families and friends gathered to enjoy BBQ prepared by the association and the dishes brought by the participants. As entertainment, tug-of-war, food race, spoon-and-egg race, bingo game, piñata and Eisa performance were enjoyed by children and adults.
・Flea market, Ryukyu Dance, Taiko performances also are held.
・Also, event planning meeting is held as a luncheon every month.
