The nonprofit organization Cinema at Sea (Executive Director: Huang Yin-Yu) is pleased to announce that Cinema at Sea 2026 – Special Showcase “Homecoming” will take place from Friday, February 20 to Saturday, February 28, 2026, primarily in Naha City, Okinawa, Japan.
Under the theme “Homecoming,” this special showcase will present films created by Uchinanchu (people of Okinawan descent) and Nikkei filmmakers from around the world. Programs include the “Hawai'i in Focus,” commemorating the 125th anniversary of Okinawan migration to Hawai‘i, as well as “Okinawa Panorama,” a popular section from previous editions featuring outstanding films connected to Okinawa.
Through this diverse lineup, the festival aims to explore different roots, journeys, and shared futures, creating opportunities for reconnection across borders and cultures, and positioning Okinawa as a new hub for international cultural exchange in the Pan-Pacific region.
We are pleased to announce the official main visual, as well as the opening and closing films for this edition.
