The World Uchinanchu Day was proposed and created thanks to the efforts of two okinawan descendants Andres Higa (Argentinian) and Tadashi Andres Ysa Urbina (Peruvian) who previously lived in Nago city.On October 30, 2016 (Sunday), in the closing ceremony of the 6th World Uchinanchu Festival, Governor of Okinawa Takeshi Onaga, the President of the Convention Executive Committee, declared the establishment of "World Uchinanchu Day".
