1.The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET)
The JET Program is conducted under the cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and the Council of Local Authorities of International Relations (CLAIR) to enhance foreign language education, and promote international exchange at the local level. The JET Program began in 1987, with the aim of contributing to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and other countries, and promoting internationalization across Japan. With the goals of improving language instruction and promoting international exchange in Okinawa, it invites young people from around the world to participate in international exchange activities such as language instruction, and exchange activities with sections of the local community such as the administrative department of local government, educational committees, elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools.
