Organization Overview・It is estimated that the population of Japanese ancestry in Bolivia is about 11,200 and out of this number, about 60%, approximately 6,800 people are from Okinawa.
・There is a vice-president and 11 directors.
・It is located in Santa Cruz, the second largest city in Bolivia at about 50 km away from Colonia Okinawa. Many Okinawan descendants live in Santa Cruz. The Okinawa Kenjinkai (Asociacion Okinawense de Bolivia ) and the Okinawa Bolivian-Japanese Association (Asociacion Boliviano Japonesa de Okinawa) are completely different organizations, but works closely, being the Okinawa Bolivian -Japanese Association the one that also represents the Okinawa Kenjinkai when dealing with the Okinawa Prefectural Government.

Okinawa Association of Bolivia Activity contents
Description・The Okinawa Kenjinkai and the Okinawa Bolivian Japanese Association hold sporting, cultural, and events based on Okinawan customs.
・The sports events are not for deciding winner or loser, but for promoting friendship and good relations. There are tournaments of gateball, volleyball and soccer among other sports.
・In 2017, as a commemorative event for the World Uchinanchu Day, each region's youth association along with the group Rekios organized the first Shimauta Karaoke Competition.
【Santa Cruz-shi Okinawa Kenjinkai 40th Anniversary Ceremony】
・This Kenjinkai celebrated its 40th anniversary on March 22, 2015. It was founded to promote mutual cooperation and friendship among its members.
