Organization Overview・The first president was Yoneko Water and the objectives of the association are friendship, welfare and mutual support.
・The current president is Toshie Cerveny (since 2017) and the term of office is 2 years. The president is selected by election.
・There is a vice-president, 2 secretaries, and 2 treasures.
・The association started up as a gathering of 4 to 5 people to celebrate the new year by each one bringing a dish. As the number of new comers increase, especially people from Okinawa, the group grew bigger, so the Kenjinkai was established with 32 members.
・Jacksonville is a city located in the southeast of US which is home to many military bases. More than the 90% of the members are married to active or retired US military servicemen residing in the area. For long time, it was an association of women only, but nowadays, 2nd generation Okinawans are also joining the group and the number of male members is also increasing.

Jacksonville Okinawa Kenjinkai Activity contents
Description・As annual activities, there are picnic, New Year's party and regular meeting held once a month. In the past, Eisa was performed at a square in summer.
・New Year's Party is held with an attendance of about 400 people, where they enjoy each other's company along with the dishes brought by the attendees while some entertainment numbers (dance, songs, taiko) are performed.
・Picnic is the event that the members look forward the most. At the event, all the family members gather enjoying dishes brought by the participants, as well as the games and sports activities joined by children and adults as well.
・To the above activities, a members-only bus tour is held once every 2 to 3 years.
