Organization OverviewObjectives are:
1. To promote mutual cooperation and friendship among its members.
2. To promote exchanges between the association and the motherland Okinawa.
・Most of its members are people who moved to Canada after the 1968, as skilled worker immigrants. Since the majority of them were people in their 30s, they created an united and active association. Exchanges with the first and second generation Okinawans began in March 1988 on the occasion of celebrating the 100th birthday of Mr. Oyakawa who received congratulatory messages and presents from the governor of Okinawa, the mayor of Nago and many other important authorities, showing the young people the strong bonds of the Okinawans. Many of the members of Kyuyo Kai have visited Okinawa to take part in the WUF or because of the OPG scholarship and shared their experiences in Okinawa with their fellow members strengthening their relationship.
・From 1980 on, many new immigrants have returned back to Okinawa which has pushed the association to make efforts in promoting immigration to Canada and assist their settlement.
