Own scholarship program | None at present. Community is still growing. |
Exchange with other region | None at present, but investigating future exchanges. |
Other Okinawa related matters | With the two Sanshin donated to us by the Sanshin Project, formally, "Sanshins to Our Brothers Around the World", we have formed a small band of sanshin players who have become quite popular. We hope to gather more musical instruments in the future, because there is some interest growing in Okinawan music. We are also anticipating a growth in interest in various Okinawan dances, including Ryubu.
Also, Because of the interest shown in Okinawa after film and other presentations by the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre and The Japan Foundation of Toronto, and endorsed by the Kyuyokai, we hope to present more cultural activities in the future. The Kyuyokai booth at the 2024 JCCC (Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre)Oshougatsukai was very popular. |
