【Recruiting!】2022 Uchinā Junior Study Program Overseas Participants and Overseas Youth Leader

We are extending the application period until April 30, 2022 (Japan time)!

We are recruiting overseas participants and an overseas youth leader for the 2022 Uchinā Junior Study Program.

In consideration of the current COVID-19 situation, we have decided to continue with the previous year's format and conduct the 2022 Uchinā Junior Study Program with online participation from the overseas participants and the youth leader.

Application Deadline: Saturday, April 30, 2022 (Japan time, for both the overseas participants and the overseas youth leader)

Overseas Participants

Eligible Participants (must meet all of the following conditions).

1 The applicant must meet one of the following conditions.

A. Applicants must be currently enrolled in junior high school or high school, and between the ages of 12 and 19 as of April 2, 2022.
B. Applicants that have participated in the 2021 Uchinā Junior Study Program, and are at least 20 years old as of April 2, 2022, can also apply.

2 Must be of Okinawan descent.

3 Be in good health.

4 Recommended by the president of the Kenjinkai as someone who can shoulder the Uchinā Network.

5 Make use of social media before and during the program and actively exchange with participants from each country.

6 Individuals who possess a personal computer or a smartphone at home and can secure a stable internet connection to participate in the program via video conferencing.

Overseas Leader

Eligible Participants (must meet all of the following conditions):

1 Applicants who are between the ages of 19 to 30 as of April 2, 2022 are eligible to apply.

2 Have participated in one of the following Okinawa Prefecture-sponsored programs in the past.

*Junior Study Tour (2001-2011)  * Not as a leader
* Uchinā Junior Study (2012-2019)

3 Must be of Okinawan descent.

4 Those who are actively involved in the activities of their home country's Kenjinkai and are recommended by the president of the Kenjinkai.

5 Those who possess a conversational level of Japanese and must be able to speak the language of his/her native country.

6 Be in good health.

7 Participants must possess a personal computer with a web cam or a smartphone at home and can secure a stable internet connection to participate in the program via video conferencing and for helping to coordinate the program in advance through online meetings with the team.

8 Make use of social media before and during the program and actively exchange with participants from each country.
