Ichari-Van Night in Canada

The event will be held on the same day as "Irei no Hi" in Japan. This day marks the end of the Battle of Okinawa and is designated as a day to comfort the spirits of those who lost their lives in the battle, praying for everlasting peace to ensure that such tragic events never happen again. Ichari-Van Night aims to spread and share the desire for lasting peace, contemplating coexistence, mutual prosperity, and the essence of peace beyond borders, under the spirit of the Okinawan proverb "Icharibachodee" (Once we meet, we are family). Attendees can experience the charm of Okinawan culture through traditional performances such as Eisa, sanshin (Okinawan three-stringed instrument), and Ryukyuwan dance, as well as enjoy Okinawan food. Towards the end of the event, Vancouver Okinawa Taiko will perform Eisa, offering prayers for peace. One of the performance songs will be "Sagaribana," the theme song of the "Sagaribana Project 2024" by Sousakugeidan Requios, a creative Eisa troop in Okinawa (please refer to the project for details).
