＜Overview of the Okinawa Peace Prize＞
Okinawa Prefecture has established the Okinawa Peace Prize to contribute to the creation of international peace from a broad and global perspective.
The Okinawa Peace Prize aims to leverage Okinawa’s unique characteristics to create a new vision of international peace from the Okinawan perspective, and to contribute to peacebuilding and peace maintenance in the Asia-Pacific region, which has deep geographical and historical ties to Okinawa. This award recognizes individuals and organizations that have achieved this goal and supports their activities.
＜About the Okinawa Peace Prize Fundraising Assistance Donations＞
The Okinawa Peace Prize Committee has started collecting donations from individuals and organizations inside and outside the prefecture since June 2003. The objectives of the Committee are to secure a stable financial resource, publicize the Okinawa Peace Prize, foster the sense of participation through donations and maintain this prize as a participatory award system.
The Committee has received assistance from many people throughout the years. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the support.
Funds raised through the Okinawa Peace Prize Fundraising Assistance Donations will be used to support the Okinawa Peace Prize monetary award, the award ceremony, and related projects.
